Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Patty Murray is pleased to announce the commitment of Vivian Vandergaag for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Vandergaag plays her club volleyball for the Thunder Volleyball Club. The 6’1 middle blocker and her Thunder teammates won their provincial championship twice, in 2022 and 2023, and went on to finish fifth at the Volleyball Canada national championships, the last three years running. In addition, Vandergaag and her teammates are also two-time Best of the West champions.
A second generation Tiger, Vandergaag is following in her mother’s footsteps. Laura Fielding played for the Tigers women’s soccer team from 1993-97, winning a CIAU championship title with the Tigers in 1994.
“I am beyond excited to be coming to Dalhousie,” says Vandergaag. “Everyone I’ve met so far has be really welcoming and I’m looking forward to playing with them. I can’t wait to learn and grow with the team.”
Vandergaag will be studying commerce at Dalhousie.
"Coming from a successful club program, Vivian has had the opportunity to find success in big moments early in her career,” says Murray. “She brings a mix of size and athleticism that will continue to be highlighted in our offensive system. We are very excited to be welcoming Vivian to the Tigers for the 2025 season!"
The Tigers open the second half of their 2024-25 campaign on January 11 when they host the Acadia Axewomen at Dalplex.
