Tigers top Aigles Bleues 3-1
Ella Hornby had 12 kills in the Tigers win over the Aigles Bleues on Friday.
A balanced attack led the Tigers to a 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23) win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Friday at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium.
The Tigers got out to an early 15-9 lead thanks to the serving of Annick Boldon (Fredericton, NB). Moncton rallied in the middle of the first set to pull the score to within three. Talia Vydykhan then put the Tigers up 17-13 and sent herself to the service line. Six straight serves from Vydykhan put the Tigers within striking distance of the first set win. Ultimately it was a service error from Moncton that gave the Tigers the first win.
The second set was all Dalhousie early, getting out to a 10-2 lead. The two teams exchanged points through out the rest of the set, but the Tigers let it slip away, giving the Aigles Bleues a 25-23 win.
Dalhousie was again able to get out to an early lead in the third set, but this time were able to hold on to it to win 25-20.
Moncton stormed out early in the fourth set, at one point holding a 17-9 lead. But the Tigers battled back, linking up several point runs in a row. They went on to win 25-23 in the set and won the game 3-1.
