The Dalhousie Tigers women's volleyball team topped the UNB REDS 3-0 (25-21, 25-19. 25-18) in AUS action Friday night.

The Tigers got out to a hot start, exciting the home crowd, before the REDS brought it back, making it a 4-3 set early for Dal. UNB would ride the momentum and grab a 3-point lead, reaching double digits first at 10-7. Now Dalhousie's turn to come back, a long run of serves from Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) and some terrific kills would see them tie it and then take the lead at 19-18. Another strong run from the Tigers saw them close out the first set 25-21.

Another quick start to set two saw the REDS take a lead at 7-6 as the teams went back-and-forth trading points. A big kill from Heather Benko (Sechelt, BC) would give UNB their first two-point lead of the set at 9-7. Continuing a strong match Grace Calnan (Dartmouth, NS) had a big kill to even the set 10-10. The Tigers continued to fight back, slowly building a lead, getting as big as three at 21-18. From there it was nearly all Tigers, closing out the set 25-19, taking a two-set lead.

After Dalhousie got out to an early three-point lead the REDS got back into the third set with Bailey Lemeiux (Fredricton, NB) finding open space on the floor to get UNB back within one at 7-6 Tigers. Another powerful kill from Glen-Carter would see the Tigers extend the lead to 13-10, looking to close out the match. From there it was all Dalhousie as Glen-Carter once again had one more kill to close it out 25-17, for a straight-sets, 3-0 victory for the Tigers.

Lucy Glen-Carter took home the Subway Player of the Game award for her 19 kill and 12 digs performance.

The Tigers improve to 13-2 and are right back at it tomorrow, hosting Acadia at 2pm.

The REDS fall to 8-8 on the season and will look to rebound tomorrow when they travel down the road to face the Saint Mary's Huskies.
