The Dalhousie Tigers beat the Moncton Aigles Bleues 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17) in AUS women's volleyball action Friday night.

Both teams struggled to find the floor early, accumulating several attack errors in the first few rallies. Eventually both teams settled down and started finding their stride. A long rally, won by the Tigers, took the teams to the first technical time out with a score of 16-11.

Several big blocks from Myriam Arseneau (Dieppe, NB) and kills from Sarah Dawe (Mount Pearl, NL) carried the Tigers through the second half of the first set. The Tigers won the first set 25-18.

Moncton pushed the Tigers early in the second set, capitalizing on Dalhousie errors. Cassidy Martin (Dieppe, NB) set up a well-balanced attack for the Aigles Bleues, with all of her hitters finding the floor early in the set. Dalhousie was able to withstand the pressure and made it to the technical time out, leading 16-10.

Several big swings from Grace Calnan (Dartmouth, NS) and Kathleen Fougere (Calgary, AB) saw the Tigers through the second set, which they won 25-17.

The third set started out with Moncton and Dalhousie trading points before Victoria Turcot (Halifax, NS) stepped up with a three-point run herself, two of which were aces. The Tigers won the set and the game with a Turcot kill to make it 25-17.

With 10 kills and seven digs in the game, Sarah Dawe was named the Subway Player of the Game.

The Tigers return to the court Saturday night when they travel to Saint Mary's for a 7pm game. The Aigles Bleues return to Dalplex on November 19 for the AUS league tournament. They face Dalhousie in a rematch of tonight's game at 7pm.
