Hannah Wilkie to join volleyball Tigers for 2017-18 season

(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University women’s volleyball coach Rick Scott is pleased to announce the commitment of Hannah Wilkie to the Tigers 2017-18 lineup.

A 6’ middle blocker, Wilkie has been a member of Nova Scotia’s provincial team program since 2012 and is a member of the 2017 Canada Games volleyball team that will compete in Winnipeg, M.B. this summer.

Wilkie has been a member of the Tigers Volleyball Club for the last two seasons and has helped them to two provincial club championship titles and a bronze medal in the division 1, tier 1 U18 National Championship last month.

Before joining the Tigers, Wilkie played five seasons with the Bridgewater Chill Volleyball Club and earned three Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) championship titles since grade eight with Bridgewater Jr./Sr. High School.

“Playing for the Dalhousie Tigers has always been my goal,” says Wilkie. “I’ve had the opportunity to play under Coach Scott in the past and his intensity and style of coaching is what really sold me on wanting to join the program. I’ve always wanted to go to a school that had an impressive academic reputation and a strong volleyball program. I’m very excited to call Dalhousie my new home for the next number of years.”

The recipient of a Lieutenant Governor’s award, Wilkie has enrolled in Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Science program, with a focus on Kinesiology.

“We're very excited to add Hannah to the women's volleyball family,” says Scott. “Hannah has excelled at the high school, club and provincial team levels.  She is a hard-working individual and has a very high volleyball IQ. She will play a valuable role for the Tigers as she grows and develops.”

The Tigers captured their fifth-consecutive AUS championship title last season and placed fifth at the U SPORTS national championship.
