(St. John's, NL) The Memorial Sea-Hawks (12-4) women's volleyball team defeated the Dalhousie Tigers (15-1) 3-1 in AUS volleyball action.  The loss was the Tigers first of the season and gives the Sea-Hawks a little breathing room for 2nd place in the AUS standings.

The Sea-Hawks looked much more aggressive today, and it showed. It was a timely ace from Sarah Dawe that tied things at 24 in the final set, completing the comeback and setting the Sea-Hawks up for what was an incredible finish.

Many have been billing this as a preview of a potential AUS title matchup. There would be no justice if it were not, as this has been some of the best action in the Field House all season. The top two teams in the conference pushed each other to the point of breaking all night, but it seemed neither would ever give in.

Glancing at the box score and trying to determine just what gave Memorial the edge tonight is pointless. Outstanding performances from Jill Snow and Kier Fey led the way for the Sea-Hawks, and they were matched all the way through by the Tigers' Courtney Baker and Mieke DuMont.

The Tigers were led by Baker who finished with 18 points, 14 kills, 10 digs. DuMont had a game-high 16 kills to go along with 17 points.  Abby Czenze dished out 46 assists in the loss.

Memorial spread the wealth, with five different players supplying at least 7 kills.  Kier Fey was the leader for the Hawks, finishing with 13. Jill Snow and Sarah Dawe had 11 kills each, with Snow also recording 18 digs. Kassie Menzies was once again the digs leader for the Hawks, finishing with 22.

Come down to the Field House tomorrow afternoon for the rubbermatch of what has been a spectacular series. If you can't make it, you can stream the affair live on AUStv.ca.
