Tigers snap losing streak
The Tigers snapped their 7 game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Mounties on Saturday.
The Dalhousie Tigers secured a 4-2 victory over Mount Allison on Saturday in Halifax.
In the first period, Dalhousie took an early lead with a goal by Emma Penner at 2:57, assisted by Abby Larkin. Despite the Mounties' attempts, Dalhousie's goalie Grace Beer made several key saves, keeping the Mounties scoreless. Emma Bishop extended Dalhousie's lead with another goal at 14:26. Dalhousie faced penalty challenges, with Daisy Varga and Hannah Robertson each serving two-minute penalties, but the Mounties were unable to capitalize on the power plays. The period ended with Dalhousie leading 2-0.
In the second period, Dalhousie started strongly by winning the initial faceoff through Jill Imeson. Despite multiple missed shots from both teams during the period, the Mounties' Megan Breum scored a goal at 6:27, assisted by Jenna Wiebe, which marked Breum's first goal of the season. Dalhousie had a power play opportunity following a tripping penalty on Dallis Mackenzie from the Mounties at 6:44, but they were unable to capitalize. The period saw continual defensive efforts, with Grace Beer making a string of saves for Dalhousie, maintaining their lead at the end of the period with a score of 2-1 in favor of Dalhousie.
In the third period, Dalhousie began with a strong start as Emma Robertson scored at 1:02, assisted by Leah MacSween, marking her first goal of the season. Dalhousie continued their offensive pressure, and at 9:40, Avery Holmes scored during a power play, assisted by Mollie Power. The Mounties responded quickly with a goal by Hailey Simoneau at 10:01, narrowing the deficit. Throughout the period, both teams exchanged several shots, with Dalhousie maintaining their lead to conclude the game with a 4-2 victory.
