The Dalhousie Tigers beat the Moncton Aigles Bleues 3-1 on Saturday night at the Halifax Forum.
Moncton opened the scoring a minute and a half into the first period. Amelie Vachon (Ste-Blaise sur Richelieu, QC) scored an unassisted goal. The Tigers responded four minutes later when Emmerson Gormely (Carleton Place, ON) scored her first of the season off a feed from Abby Larkin on the power play. Larkin then had a goal of her own less than a minute later to put the Tigers up 2-1 heading into the intermission.
An uneventful second period was highlighted by Grace Beer (Oakville, ON)who stood on her head in the final 30 second to maintain the lead.
The Tigers extended their lead halfway through the third period with a goal by Natasha Falk (Brandon, MB). Ava Boyle and Gabrielle Noordijk (Oakville, ON) had the helpers.
With a minute left to go, Moncton pulled their goalie, Annick Boudreau (Memramcook, NB). Emma Robertson added an empty net goal to seal the win for the Tigers. Boudreau ended the game with 18 saves in the loss.
It was a game of missed opportunities for the Aigles Bleues who were on the power play five times, but we unable to convert.
Beer was named the player of the game for the Tigers for her 44 save performance.
The Tigers head down the road on Wednesday to play Saint Mary's at the Homburg Centre. The Aigles Bleues hit the road on Friday, November 1 to battle the St. Thomas Tommies.
