[Halifax, NS] – The Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 1-0 at Wickwire Field this afternoon.
Following a scoreless first half, it was the Sea-Hawks who broke the deadlock, with striker Colin Connors (St. John's, NL) firing home the winner in the 59th minute of play.
In the end, Dal could not find an equalizer on this sunny September day, despite outshooting their adversaries 11 to 3. Mohammed Tolba (Stellarton, NS) was instrumental in Dalhousie's attacking efforts, with strikes caroming off both left and right posts in the second half when the Tigers looked to draw level.
In between the sticks, the Sea-Hawks Louis-Charles Vaillancourt (Sherbrooke, QC) made four key stops in the win, while the Tigers' Sinclair Astridge (Victoria, BC) denied two Sea-Hawk efforts that could have put the game out of reach.
With the result, Memorial netted their fourth win of this young season, while the Tigers picked up their third loss.
Jack Ellis (Liverpool, ENG) was named the player of the game.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday afternoon with a 3:15 ADT kickoff at Wanderers Grounds. Next up for the Sea-Hawks will be a trek up to Sydney to meet the Cape Breton Capers for a primetime Friday night contest kicking off at 7:15 ADT.
