Dalhousie midfielder Kyle Routledge scored the game-winning goal as the Tigers defeated their crosstown rival the Saint Mary's Huskies 2-1 on Wednesday night in Halifax.

Saint Mary's goalkeeper Ryan Davis (Lake Loon, NS) was on high alert the first half, keeping numerous shots-on target at bay.

The Huskies attack kept pushing, with exceptional passing-play, which allowed forward Jalen Loague (London, ON) to score the first goal for Saint Mary's off an assist from Sean Freeman (Halifax, NS) in the 18th minute.

It did not take the Tigers long to answer back, as just three minutes later, forward Mykeo Parker-Christmas (Halifax, NS) capitalized on a penalty kick to score their equalizer.

At the 31st minute Tigers midfielder Kyle Routledge (Halifax, NS) scored off a spectacular shot to put Dalhousie in the lead at 2-1.

Huskies forward Ishamani Lewin (Winnipeg, ON) displayed his dribbling skills, making it past the Tigers defense on multiple occasions. One of those displays resulted in a great pass to midfielder Colton Kaiser (Chester Bain, NS), however Kaiser was tripped up by a Dalhousie defender causing a penalty-kick to be awarded in the 41st minute. Much to the home crowd's dismay, Sean Freeman skied the penalty over the crossbar, and the Tigers kept their 2-1 lead in tact heading into halftime.

The second half saw both teams creating close chances, but neither was able to finish their shots very well. Huskies forward Moe Zeina (Mill Cove, NS) came off the bench to make some great runs, but he too was unable to convert and lock-in the much-needed equalizer.

The Tigers took this one home with a final score of 2-1. The Player of the Game was awarded to Tigers defender Wilfrid Kindo (Burkina Faso, BFA) for his defensive play.

The Huskies loss drops their record to 3-4-2 on the campaign. They'll be back in action for a pair of games next week - Friday night at Acadia, 7:15 p.m. in Wolfville, before returning to Huskies Stadium for a 3:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon matchup against UPEI, part of Saint Mary's Homecoming Celebrations.

The Tigers win improves their record to 2-5-2 on the season. Dalhousie will also have a pair of games next weekend, visiting Moncton on Saturday afternoon before hosting Acadia on Sunday, with both games at 3:15 p.m.
