(Halifax, NS) – In the Dalhousie Tigers senior day game, they hosted the UPEI Panthers on Wickwire field. The Tigers were able to celebrate senior day with a 2-0 victory in a tight defensive game.

The Tigers had the first chance of the match in the 28th minute on a low, bouncing strike from Ahmed Abokar (Halifax, NS) that Brett Strba (Fall River, NS) was able to make the diving stop on.

The Tigers found the back of the net just a few minutes later however, when Gracious Kasheke (Halifax, NS) made a run down the right hand side of the box and sent a cross through that found a gap in the defenders with Freddy Bekkers (Halifax, NS) there to finish it off.

The Panthers almost managed to find an equalizer later in the half on a seemingly harmless ball that took a bad bounce off a Tigers defender, and Ben Grondin (Calgary, AB) had to scramble to tip it over the bar.

With that, the teams went into the break with the Tigers leading 1-0.

The Tigers once again had the first chance in the half on a very similar shot to the first, this time coming on a long strike Enrico Rodriguez (Halifax, NS) that took a hop right in front of Strba, but he was able to come down on top of it.

It was quiet for the majority of the second half, with no real chances coming through the 85th minute when UPEI started to pick up the urgency.

The Panthers had plenty of opportunities to create scoring chances off of corners in the final minutes, but nothing could get toward the goal before time ran out on them.

In the upper 90th minute, the Tigers sealed their victory on a goal from Enrico Rodrigeuz after a tough bounce in the box ended up on his foot, and he was able to tap it home.

The Tigers were able to survive with a 2-0 victory.

Tigers senior Cullen Mullally (Stratford, PEI) was named the Subway Player of the Game in his final home game with the team.

The Tigers will finish up the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Moncton for their final game. The Panthers final game will be on Friday when they face Saint Mary's.
