(Halifax, N.S.) – Four first half goals were more than enough for the Dalhousie Tigers, as they topped the Mount Allison Mounties 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at Wickwire Field.

The home side outshot Mount Allison 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes of play, and tallied three goals within five minutes of each other to take a commanding 3-0 lead just over 24 minutes into the game.

Midfielder Freddy Bekkers (Halifax, NS) scored his first of two goals during the contest to open the scoring at 19:46, in what was a closely fought affair up until that point. Just under five minutes later, striker Kallen Heenan (Darthmouth, NS) made it 2-0 on a shot from a tough angle that went top corner. Shortly afterwards, midfielder Isaiah McCullough (Sackville, NS) opened the lead up to three on a shot from the right side.

Striker Will Kafeero (Ottawa, ON) capped off the first half scoring with a tally from just outside the box in the 42nd minute.

Mount Allison's best chance to get on the board occurred in the 17th minute, as midfielder Anthony Maddalena (Halifax, NS) connected on a well-played ball, however Dalhousie goalie Ryan Merlin (Halifax, NS) was able to make the stop.

The second half featured physical play from both sides, with just one goal put on the board – courtesy of Bekkers in the 55th minute. Mount Allison's best opportunity was in the 73rd minute on a cross into the box, however an attempted header went just wide.

With the win, Dalhousie advances to 4-0-5 on the year, while Mount Allison falls to 0-7-1. Both team's next action goes on Friday. The Tigers will visit Acadia while the Mounties will host StFX.
