Dalhousie played Cape Breton on the afternoon of Sunday, October 25th at Wickwire Field. The Capers took a 2-0 win from the Tigers with 2 goals later in the second half of the game.
The first half of the game held no score. Both teams were playing quite defensively at the beginning of the game having both been ranked in the top 5 of the AUS standings. Dalhousie's Bezick Evraire (Ottawa, ON) had a chance on goal with a header in the middle of the half which was saved by Cape Breton's keeper, Scott Shewfelt (London, ON). Towards the end of the half, Cape Breton's Daniel Pritchard (Nuneaton, UK) was handed a yellow card. The half came to an end with a tied score of 0-0.
Cape Breton scored the first goal of the game at the 60 minute mark with an assist from Stuart Heath (Belfast, IE) to Justin Maheu (Ottawa, ON) who finished the goal. The Tigers fought hard to tie up the score with some great plays up the wing after building the play across the field. Jack Shembri (Mahone Bay, NS) was handed a yellow card soon after the first goal and at the 77 minute mark, teammate Jeff Arkin (Bedford, NS) was also given a yellow card.
Approaching the end of the game, the Capers' Hugh Parslow (Dartmouth, NS) was given the last yellow card of the game. With three minutes left to play, Cape Breton secured their win with a second goal finished from Marco Lapenna (Montreal, QC) off of a play made by Maheu. This brought the half and the game to an end at a score of 2-0 for the Cape Breton Capers.
Player of the game for Dalhousie was captain Mark Hagen (Calgary, AB) who played a big role on the defence and the offence for the Tigers. Player of the game for Cape Breton was midfielder Robson Doolan (Nottingham, UK) who was a major play-maker for the Capers.
Dalhousie (5-3-3) will have their next game on Saturday, October 31st against StFX (3-5-3). Cape Breton (6-1-4) will also have their next game on the 31st against Saint Mary's (2-4-5).
