The Acadia Axemen men's soccer team recorded their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon at Wickwire field with a 3-0 win over the Dalhousie Tigers. In a hard fought contest that looked destined to finish in a 0-0 draw the Axemen scored back-to-back-to-back goals just three minutes apart in the second half putting the game out of reach for the Tigers.

Dalhousie keeper, Jason Ross and Acadia counterpart, Nigel Goodwin both had their fair share of highlight reel saves in the first half keeping the game at a 0-0 stale mate after one half. Acadia seemed to have the advantage in terms of possession but Dalhousie had multiple chances to get on the board in the first.

The back and forth play continued into the second until Acadia's Andrew Snyder, scored off a perfect corner from in the 66' minute. The Axemen didn't hold back after scoring their first goal in nearly 160 minutes of play this season as Acadia Cochrane Noseworthy Smith extended the lead to 2-0 scoring in the 68' minute. Noseworthy Smith took a beautiful feed from Matthew Berrigan leaving Ross with no chance of making a play.

Things would get worse for the Tigers as Sam Gillis scored off a rebound just fifty-three seconds after the Noseworthy Smith tally.

Despite the 3-0 loss the Tigers put up a strong effort, but Nigel Goodwin's five saves and the Axemen shutdown defense held Dalhousie scoreless.

Next Saturday the Tigers (1-1-0) will be on the road against the UNB Varsity Reds (0-2-0).

Acadia (1-0-1) will be on the pitch Friday night when they play the Mount Allison Mounties (0-2-0) at MacAulay Field.
