The Dalhousie Tigers men's soccer team was in top form on Saturday afternoon beating the Mount Allison Mounties 7-0 at Wickwire Field in the season opener. Led by fifth year striker Bezick Evraire, the Tigers controlled play throughout the ninety minutes and displayed their goal scoring ability.
Zach Mbolekwa opened up the scoring in the 21' minute after Evraire found the ball inside the box and crossed it over to Mbolekwa at the opposite post, netting his first of the year.
Will Wright added another after a cross took a bounce off Mark Hagan's head giving Wright an open look at the cage. The Mounties struggled on the offensive side of the pitch only recording one shot in the half. The Tigers went into the locker room holding a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers continued the pressure into the second half with two early goals by Bezick Evraire and Jonny Doucette widening the lead to 4-0.
Evraire would notch the fifth Tigers goal in the 82' minute on one of the better individual efforts we will see all season long. The striker dribbled around the box eventually chipping the ball up in the air and finished it with a rocket of a shot to the top left corner leaving Mount Allison keeper, Makenzie Hill with no chance.
The Tigers went on to score two more late goals for a final score of 7-0. Dalhousie keeper, Jason Ross recorded his first win and shutout of the 2015 campaign.
Both sides will be in action Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (1-0-0) will host the Acadia Axemen (0-0-1) at Wickwire Field while the Mounties (0-1-0) will be on the road agaisnt the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-0-1).
