This is Richard’s 12th year as head coach of Dalhousie’s cross country and track and field teams. A graduate of the University of Victoria, he had a very successful career as an athlete before embarking on a coaching career. As a cross country athlete, Richard took home two CIS bronze medals. He was a two-time CIS First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star. In track, he is a two-time CIS gold medallist as a member of the Vikes 4x800m relay teams and was also a two-time first team all-Canadian. Richard spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Dalhousie’s cross country and track teams before taking over the head coach role. A trained endurance competition development coach, Richard is also the distance coach for Halifast Athletics and was an assistant coach with the Nova Scotia Canada Games Track and Field team in 2017.
