2023 Men's Cross Country AUS Championship Preview

The Dalhousie University Tigers men’s cross country team looks to make it four straight AUS titles in Saturday’s AUS Championship hosted by Saint Mary’s University at Point Pleasant Park on Saturday at 1pm.

This year's competition will be tight as the University of New Brunswick Reds and the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men look poised to make a run for AUS gold. Most recently, the UNB Reds beat out all AUS teams in the UNB Invitational.

“We can’t limp our way past anyone right now. We need to be serious for the AUS Championship,” says Tigers head coach Rich Lehman.

Jacob Benoit (Windsor, NS) has been dominant for the Tigers this season, finishing first in the StFX invitational on September 9 and first in the Acadia invitational on September 23. Benoit’s primary goal will be to win the team banner, but he also believes he can take home the individual victory after finishing third last year in the AUS Championship for StFX.

“I've ran in high-pressure meets before. Even though people are counting on me, I feel like I can count on myself,” says the 2022 second team all-Canadian.

Also placed in the top 10 for the Tigers at the Acadia Invitational were Aidan Goslett (Toronto, ON), Lukas Rudaitis (Mississauga, ON) and Nick Robertson (Charlottetown, PEI). The Tigers finished on top amongst all teams at the invitational. Goslett and Robertson provide the Tigers experience, making the first team all-star last season.

Be sure to follow your Tigers this weekend for more cross country coverage.
