Tigers add Longino for 2022-23 season

Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Rick Scott is pleased to announce the commitment of Kirsty Longino for the 2022-23 season.

A 5’8 libero from Calgary, Alberta, Longino helped her William Aberhart High School varsity volleyball team win two division one city championships in 2019 and 2021 while finishing third at the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 4A volleyball provincial championships in 2021.

Longino is now playing with the fourth ranked Cougars Volleyball Club in Alberta where she is playing as a setter but is expected to be switching to libero when she gets onto campus.

“I’m incredibly excited to be able to play for my dream school,” says Longino. “I love the east coast and cannot wait to be part of the Dalhousie community. The team is filled with an unbelievable amount of talent and I’m super grateful to be able to learn from the girls and bring new energy to the Tigers!”

Longino will graduate from William Aberhart High School in June 2022 and is on track to becoming a four-time honor roll member.

Longino will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie.

“We are thrilled to add someone of Kirsty’s athleticism and volleyball skill set,” says Scott. “She is a versatile player that will serve as a defensive specialist or libero and can also set. She is a great competitor and person that is a true leader and great teammate. She is the type of person and player that makes your team better and become champions.”

The Tigers recently defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies to earn their ninth-consecutive AUS title.
