Libby Falkenham Set to Join Tigers for the 2018-19 Season

Libby Falkenham to join volleyball Tigers for 2018-19 season

(Halifax, N.S.) - Dalhousie University women’s volleyball coach Rick Scott is pleased to announce the commitment of Libby Falkenham to the Tigers 2018-19 lineup.

A 5’8 setter, Falkenham has been a member of Nova Scotia’s provincial team program since 2016 and led Team Nova Scotia to a fifth-place finish at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, M.B., last summer.

Falkenham has been a member of the Tigers Volleyball Club for the last three seasons and has helped them to three provincial club championship titles and a bronze medal in the division 1, tier 1 U18 National Championship last May. She was named to the provincial championship all-star team the last three years and earned team MVP honours during the 2015 and 2017 seasons.

The 2015 rookie of the year, Falkenham is in her third season with the Citadel High School volleyball team. The two-time defending Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) provincial champions, she will lead the Phoenix to this year’s championship in search of their third-straight title, December 1 and 2.

“Dalhousie is a great school academically and athletically,” says Falkenham. “I feel this is an exciting time to be joining the team and I look forward to making the leap from Club Tiger to Dalhousie Tiger.”

Falkenham has been accepted to Dalhousie’s recreation management program.

“We are thrilled to add Libby to our women’s volleyball program,” says Scott. “Not only is Libby one of the top setters graduating in Nova Scotia, but one of the best in the entire country. She is a tremendous competitor and has excellent leadership skills which are very important traits at the setting position. With continued hard work and commitment, Libby has the opportunity to be a real difference maker for us in the years to come.”

The Tigers captured their fifth-consecutive AUS championship title last season and placed fifth at the U SPORTS national championship. They currently sit atop the AUS standings are ranked fifth nationally at time of publication.
