2017-18 Women's Volleyball Preview

2017-18 Women's Volleyball Preview

The Tigers embark on the 2017-18 season full of excitement as they look to capture their sixth-consecutive AUS championship and make their mark on the national stage. The return of 11 players from last year’s championship squad will provide tremendous experience and consistency.

Leading the way are fourth-years Mieke DuMont, Emma Ciprick and Tessa Bulmer. They will provide strong play and assume leadership roles both on and off the court for the Tigers this season.

Third-year players Courtney Baker, Tori Haworth, Lauren Koksowich and Alyssa Harding will also look to play key roles, providing a strong presence at the net and solid back court play. Baker is coming off a very busy and impressive summer with Canada’s Senior A and Universiade teams. Haworth represented Nova Scotia in beach volleyball at the Canada Games in Winnipeg this past summer, finishing in fourth place.

AUS all-rookie team member Hannah Aldcorn will look to continue the momentum from her first season, along with fellow second-year players Cassandra Bagnell and Olivia Zanatta

Four fresh faces will bring youth and enthusiasm to this year’s squad. Julie Moore, Catherine Callaghan, Victoria Turcot and Hannah Wilkie all come to the Tigers after very successful high school and club careers. All four represented Nova Scotia in indoor volleyball at the Canada Games this past summer.  Callaghan, Moore and Turcot also have national team experience with Canada’s Youth and Junior national team programs.
