(Halifax, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers secured their first win of the weekend with a 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-7) win over the Laval Rouge et Or on Saturday afternoon at the Dalplex. Not much separated the two sides as they were virtually tied throughout the whole match.

After trailing for the majority of the first set the Dalhousie Tigers managed to tie things up at 23-23 with a huge kill from Anna Dunn-Suen. The kill provided a momentum swing and propelled the Tigers to a 25-23 first set win.

Laval seemed in control of the set until the final stages where they could not find an answer for Dunn-Suen's offence.

The second set could have gone either way with both teams having their fair share of opportunities to take command of the set.  Laval led once again for majority of the frame but Dalhousie chipped away and took their first lead of the set at 16-15. Jessica Josenhans received a quick set and caught all six Laval players flat footed.

This time the Rouge et Or were able to counter the late Tiger comeback and close out the set 25-22.

Once again the two teams were tied to the late stages of the third set at 22-22. The Tigers came through in the clutch as Amy Appleby had two service aces on the way to the Tigers 25-22 third set victory.

In a must win fourth set for Laval they were able to open a 14-9 lead over the Tigers. The Tigers slowly chipped away at the lead until Dunn-Suen had a massive kill to tie the game at 23-23. This time the Rouge et Or were able to buckle down and force the fifth and final set.

Dalhousie took command of the final set hoping out to an 8-3 lead. Jessica Josenhans had a massive solo block in the middle to but the Tigers up by five and sparked the team's energy.

The Tigers would hold on to win the set 15-7 and the match 3-2.

It was Anna Dunn-Suen leading the Tigers offensively once again with 16 kills. On the Laval side it was Alice Cloutier who had a game high 19 kills.

Dalhousie plays Montreal tonight at 7pm in the Dalplex while Laval is done for the weekend.
