Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Rick Scott is pleased to announce the addition of Emma Ciprick to the 2014-15 roster.

A three-year member of Manitoba’s provincial volleyball program, Ciprick most recently served as a team co-captain and helped her team to a fourth place finish at the 2013 National Team Cup Challenge.

A member of the Parkland Vipers Volleyball Club for three years, the 5’9” left side hitter is currently a member of the Brandon Storm Volleyball Club. At the Manitoba provincial volleyball championships, Ciprick led her team to a silver medal and was named to the tournament all-star team. They will compete at the upcoming Volleyball Canada 2014 U18 Canadian Open May 9-11.

Ciprick was the named the Provincial B tournament MVP in 2012 with her Major Pratt High School volleyball team, leading them to a gold medal season. In 2011, they finished second at the provincial championship where she was named to the all-star team. At the end of the 2011-12 school year, she was named their female athlete of the year and was the volleyball and basketball team MVPs. This past season, she helped the Neelin High School volleyball team to a silver medal at the AAAA provincial high school championship and was named a graduating all-star.

“I am thrilled to be coming to Dalhousie,” says Ciprick. “I consider it an honour to play for Coach Scott and the Tigers and I can’t wait to take in the east coast lifestyle. I fell in love with the school during my visit in March and could not believe how welcome I was made to feel by my future teammates and the coaching staff. I can’t wait to embark on this next phase of my life and I am up for the challenge of CIS volleyball.”

An honour roll student since grade nine, Ciprick is from Binscarth, Manitoba and has been accepted to Dalhousie’s kinesiology program.

“We are very excited to add Emma to our team,” says Scott. “Emma is a hardworking, committed and highly-motivated athlete. She is very athletic and has been a part of an excellent Neelin High School program and Storm volleyball club, which are two of the best programs in the country. I believe these qualities and experience will help her with the transition to the university level and be a key part of our team in the years ahead.”

The Tigers won their second consecutive AUS championship last season and placed fourth at the CIS championship in February. It was the first time an AUS school had appeared in a CIS women’s volleyball semifinal since the Tigers claimed silver in 1984.
