[Halifax, NS] – The Dalhousie Tigers and the Memorial Sea-Hawks played to a scoreless draw Sunday morning at Wickwire Field.
Dal led the way with seven shots to Memorial's two and managed to win 10 corners over the 90 minutes, but the Sea-Hawks stingy defending kept the match all square right to the final whistle.
Today's match was a defensive affair, with both squads struggling to break through each other's back line. Dal had the better of the play and started rather strongly, but despite some promising attacking play down the right side of the attack, the team could not parlay their early chances into a goal. Shots on target in the 11th and 16th minutes from Sally Steinberg (Hamilton, ON) and Emilie Calabrese (Ancaster, ON) forced Memorial's Leana Claude (Grenchen, SUI) into a pair of impressive stops.
Perhaps the next best chance on the day fell to Memorial's Jen Milligan (Strathroy, ON) who troubled Brianne MacDonald (Chelsea, QC) for her only work on the day with a long-range effort 10 minutes past the restart.
Hannah Firstbrook (Ottawa, ON) was named the player of the game.
With the result, Dal (1-2-2) picks up their fifth point of the season, while Memorial (2-3-1) now sits on seven after today's contest.
The Tigers will return to action next Saturday when they face STFX at Wanderers Grounds at 1:00pm ADT, while the Sea-Hawks will travel up to Cape Breton for this upcoming Friday to take on the still-undefeated Capers at 5:30pm ADT.
