WOLFVILLE, N.S. — The Acadia Axewomen edged the Dalhousie Tigers 2-1 in Friday's Atlantic University Sport (AUS) action.
Riley Bonadie (Ottawa, ON) opened the scoring for Acadia in the 30th minute, assisted by Mya Harnish (Lower Sackville, NS). Dalhousie responded in the second half when Elise Evans (Toronto, ON) found the back of the net, with help from Emilie Calabrese (Ancaster, ON), levelling the game at 1-1.
Harnish sealed the victory for Acadia with a goal of her own, assisted by Brenna Kennedy (Fletches Lake, NS). The teams were evenly matched offensively, with Dalhousie recording 14 shots and Acadia close behind with 13.
Acadia goalkeeper Milena Ramirez (Wolfville, NS) made two key saves to help secure the win in front of 396 fans at Raymond Field. Brianne MacDonald (Chelsea, QC) made three saves in the Tigers loss.
Evans was named the Tigers player of the game, while Bonadie received the honours for Acadia.
The Axewomen (3-0-1) next host the Memorial Sea-Hawks (1-3-0) on Saturday at home, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. Dalhousie (1-2-1) will host Memorial the next day at home with an early 9 a.m. kick-off at Wickwire Field.
