Dal Ties Moncton in Season Opener

Elise Evans opened the game with a run down the left wing. After beating her defender, she crossed in a ball, but no Dal player could get to it to capitalize.
Sally Steinberg moments later had a great run down the right wing and placed the ball into the bottom left to score the game's first goal for Dal three minutes in. Ella Halliday assisted Steinberg's second goal of her Dal career, beating Moncton's keeper, Krista Phillips.
Paris Axam had a chance at goal in the 21st minute, placing the ball wide of the left post.
In the 23rd minute, Joelle Richard took a crack on goal, resulting in a save by Dal's keeper Emily Toth. Since Dal's opening goal, possession had been fairly even.
Moncton had a free kick in the 39th minute, crossing the ball into the box to Richard, who hit the post. Dal cleared the ball from their box, receiving a cheer from the home fans.
In the 45th minute, Moncton's Madeleine Belliveau took a crack on goal, shooting wide of the goal.
The first half ended with Dal leading in shots 5-4 and shots on goal 3-2, taking a 1-0 lead into the second half.
Three minutes into the second half, after getting out of Moncton's press, the Tigers had a chance on goal. Olivia Jack missed it over the crossbar, keeping the score 1-0.
Kyla Desroches had Moncton's best chance of the game in the 49th minute. With a Dal defender on her right hip and facing the goalie, she placed the ball bottom left, missing the net.
Evans had another spectacular run in the 61st minute down the left wing, barely missing a shot in the bottom right corner.
In the 66th minute, Belliveau found the ball off a mishap by the Dal defender. Belliveau capitalized with a chip, beating Dal's keeper, Toth, to tie the game 1-1.
In the 70th minute, Belliveau took another crack at goal, with Toth making the save.
Dal applied pressure in the game's final moments, coming close to scoring a winning goal. However, the game stayed squared at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes. Dal outshot Moncton 12-7.
Sally Steinberg was named the player of the game for Dalhousie.
The Tigers travel to Cape Breton next week to take on the Capers on Saturday at 1 pm.
