(HALIFAX, NS) – The Dalhousie Tiger's beat the Mount Allison's Mounties 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at a hot Wickwire Field in Halifax.
The Tigers started the game off strong with Maeve McCloskey (Georgetown, ON), opening the scoring in the 4th minute.
The Tigers doubled their lead just ten minutes later when a corner is whipped into the Mounties 18-yard box and Tigers defender Hannah Firstbrook (Nepean, ON) connects to find the back of the net.
A few minutes later, Mounties Isabel Tanfara (Quispamsis, NB) made an important save from inside the 18 yard-box, stopping the Tigers from adding another to their tally.
The bleeding was only stopped momentarily with Tigers Elise Evans (Toronto, ON) making it 3-0 in the 36th minute.
The Tigers made it 4-0 right before halftime when Tigers Paris Axam's (Ottawa, ON) corner kick found the head of teammate Megan Chiasson giving the Tigers a comfortable lead heading into the locker rooms.
A quieter second half saw Tanfara continue her impressive performance in net. The Tigers were able to find a way around her one last time in the 78th minute when Chloe Richardson (Calgary, AB) found the back of the net for the final goal of the game. The final whistle gave the Tigers take all three points with a 5-0 final score.
Tigers Hannah Firstbrook was named the player of the game in the win.
Both teams will be back in action next weekend. Mount Allison will host the STFX X-Women next Friday at 5:00pm whereas the Tigers will return to action and host Cape Breton next Saturday at 1:00pm.
