Holmes scores in loss to X-Women

The Dalhousie Tigers fell to STFX X-Women4-1 on Wednesday in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The first period between Dalhousie and the X-Women saw a scoreless start with both teams missing several shots on goal. Dalhousie won multiple faceoffs, but the X-Women capitalized on their opportunities with Ashlyn Garnett scoring the first goal at 11:54, assisted by Grace Gonyer and Claire Carruthers. Following a penalty against Vivian Hinch for cross-checking, Dalhousie was unable to score during their power play. The X-Women extended their lead with a second goal by Grace Gonyer at 18:30, with an assist from Kya Moss, concluding the period with a 2-0 advantage.
The second period opened with Dalhousie dominating faceoffs and attempting several shots on goal, but all were saved by the X-Women's Bianca Zak. Bree MacPherson's penalty at 00:58 gave Dalhousie a power play, but they were unable to capitalize. The X-Women then scored the only goal of the period at 03:13, with Joanna Martinsen finding the net, assisted by Alexis Perry. Despite numerous power play opportunities, Dalhousie struggled to convert as Bianca Zak continued to thwart their efforts, maintaining the X-Women's lead of 3-0 by the end of the period.

Dalhousie responded with a goal by Avery Holmes at 12:27, assisted by Mollie Power and Gabrielle Noordijk, during a power play, leveling the period's scoring. Both teams faced penalty challenges, with Emma Bishop of Dalhousie receiving a penalty for body checking at 8:48 and Kamdyn Switzer of the X-Women penalized for slashing at 11:30, leading to power play opportunities for the opposing teams. Avery Holmes stood out for Dalhousie, having scored one goal on seven shots, with the goal being a power-play effort. Leah MacSween was effective in faceoffs, winning 10 out of 12 attempts.
