The Dalhousie women's hockey team beat St. Thomas 3-0 on February 3, at the Halifax Forum

Dalhousie started the game off more aggressive than their opponents, but ran into a hot goaltender in St. Thomas' Katie Sweeney (Tecumseh, ON) who turned away shot after shot. It wasn't until the final two minutes of the period when a timely deflection was able to spring Tigers forward Brooklyn Paisley (Shawnigan Lake, BC) on a breakaway that she was able to capitalise on. Her goal gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

As the game rolled on, Dalhousie continued to outshoot St. Thomas and added onto their lead midway through the second. After a scrum near the Tommies goal, Olivia Eustace (Riverview, NB) was able to jam the puck for her 11th goal of the season. The Tigers continued to control the time of possession and led 2-0 after the second period.

Things looked like they might be turning around for the Tommies when Dalhousie was charged with a double minor penalty early in the third period, but Dalhousie's aggressive penalty killing and some great goaltending from Maggie Baxter were able to hold off the St. Thomas attack. Alix Yallowega (Winnipeg, MB) added a third goal as the Tigers ended up cruising to a victory on Seniors Night.

Baxter earned  Subway player of the game honours for Dalhousie after recording the second shutout of her young AUS career.

The Tigers improve to 13-8 on the season while St. Thomas falls to 7-16.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow when St. Thomas travels to Moncton to face les Aigles Bleus, and Dalhousie hits the road to face UNB.
