(Halifax, NS) – In their second matchup of the season, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted l'Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Saturday at the Halifax Forum. In a strong performance throughout the roster, the Dalhousie Tigers secured a 3-0 victory.

Getting a great scoring chance early, a breakout pass from the Moncton blue line found Elizabeth Tremblay on the opposite line for a breakaway chance. Tremblay broke into the zone on the right side and tried to take a quick wrist shot as she cut across the slot, but Fabiana Petricca (Woodbridge, ON) made a great glove save to keep it scoreless.

The Tigers were able to counter that chance with some great puck movement in the attacking zone as Danika Phillips (Barrie, ON) found Keana Oshowy (Woodbridge, ON) in the corner, and Oshowy made a great pass across the top of the crease for Natalie Stanwood (West Vancouver, BC) who was waiting on the doorstep for the tap-in goal.

The Tigers were able to pick up another goal on an extended power play chance. As the puck worked around the zone, Annika Rose (North Vancouver, BC) snapped a shot on goal that was stopped, but the rebound took multiple deflections in front of the goal and Kennedy Whelan (Alliston, ON) was in the right spot to send it home to make it 2-0 for the Tigers.

L'Aigles Bleues were able to outshoot the Tigers in the period, but they went into the break trailing 2-0 on the scoreboard.

Both teams were given power play chances early in the period, but it was the Tigers who were able to capitalize once again midway through the second. As Whelan came into the zone, she sent a tough pass into the slot for Lauren Ellerton (Toronto, ON) who was able to chip a shot on goal as she was falling to her knees, and the shot fooled Audrey Berthiaume for a 3-0 lead.

After a period that was controlled by the Tigers, the teams went into the final frame with Dalhousie leading 3-0.

After a quiet, back and forth period, Janie Poitras (Saint-André, NB) was able to give the Aigles Bleues a bit of a boost as she broke into the zone on the right side on a partial break. Poitras tried to cut back across the crease and fool Petricca with a near-side shot, but Petricca was able to do a great job to hold the post and make the strong save.

As time ran out for Moncton, the Tigers were able to hold on to the 3-0 win.

Fabiana Petricca was as solid as usual for the Tigers in goal, stopping 18 shots for the shutout victory. Kennedy Whelan picked up a goal and an assist to lead her team and was named the Subway Player of the Game as a result.

The Tigers will look to keep their momentum rolling next Friday when they host UPEI. Moncton will also be at home next Friday when they take on StFX.
