MONCTON -- Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (9-9-1=19pts, 6th position) came up short 3-2 against the Dalhousie University Tigers (6-12-2=14pts, 7th position) on Friday evening in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Moncton.
Even though Moncton led 53-25 in shots on goal, the team had difficulty getting going against a very good Tigers squad on the ice. Subway player of the game, Taylor Joyce, led the winners attack with two goals and Corinne Desjardins completed the scoring. Cassandra Labrie, on a hard shot from the point, on the power play in the first and Maëlle Rioux, at 19:02 of the third, also on the power play, scored for Moncton. Audrey Berthiaume made 22 saves in a losing cause and Fabiana Petricca, 51. Moncton was 2 for 8 on the power play and Dalhousie, 0 for 5.
The University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (9-8-1=19pts, 4th position) will visit today (Saturday) at 7p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. Dalhousie hosts StFX, next Wednesday evening.
