MONCTON – The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (6-12-4=16pts, 5th position) were not able declaw the Dalhousie University Tigers (7-14-1=15pts, 6th position), as they bowed 4-2, Friday in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The Blue and Gold is qualified for the playoffs and will host the Mount Allison University Mounties (3-17-1=7pts), Sunday at 2 p.m. in its last regular season home game. The Tigers win qualified them for the playoffs.

The Tigers scored twice on the power play in their road victory. Annika Rose, in the first and Corinne Desjardins, in the second, both on the power play, and Lisa Maclean, with the winner at 15:30 of the middle period and Becca Chilvers, with the assurance in the 16th minute of play in the third, got the puck behind goaltender Sabrina Lebrun, on 26 shots, for the winners. Katryne Villeneuve, first period and Cassandra Labrie, second, both unassisted, were the local team scorers against Fabiana Petricca, on 30 shots.

Moncton has lost its last five games. "Dalhousie played much better than we did and had two power play goals," a disappointed Moncton coach Denis Ross said following the game. "The Tigers won most of the puck battles, I only had about 50 pour cent of my team playing at a time. We need to get ready for the playoffs and it was not evident tonight. We need to find a solution."

Gabrielle Forget will face the Mounties in goal, on Sunday, for Moncton.

BATTLE – There were a number of battles for the puck along the boards in the AUS women's hockey game between the Tigers and Aigles Bleues, Friday evening. Jesse Rietveld (25) and Taylor Reichheld (18) of the Tigers are against Marie-Pier Corriveau (14) and Dominique Bérubé (10), of the Aigles Bleues on this play. The Tigers were 4-2 winners.

The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, hosting StFX in their final home gameof the regular season.
