Tigers take down X-Women 3-1

(Halifax, NS) On Thursday night at the Halifax Forum the Dalhousie Tigers took down the StFX X-Women 3-1 in AUS women's hockey action. Jessica Severeyns stood tall in the Tigers net; making 35 saves on the night.

Dalhousie scored the lone goal of the first period 10:19 into the game. Sarah Robichaud made a nice move to get to the net but could not beat Sojung Shin. Laura Brooks followed the play up and was able to clean up the rebound giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first period.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead early in the second as Kayla Ogilvie ripped a shot from the point that hit the post and went in. The goal was Olgivie's first in her AUS career.

Bianca Canade added another tally for the Tigers before the end of the third period. Despite holding a 3-0 lead after two periods of play the Tigers were badly outplayed and shot by the X-Women. The Tigers only had 10 shots on net through two periods while the X-Women had 24.

StFX made a goalie change to start the third period as Pascale Daigle came in for relief of Shin.

Kara Power got the X-Women on the board in the third period and spoiled Jessica Severeyns shutout bid.

The X-Women continued to press late but Severeyns shut the door keeping the Tigers lead 3-1.

After the win the Tigers are 9-13-1 with just one regular season game remaining against Moncton on Sunday, February 14th at the Halifax Forum. The X-Women's last came comes on Saturday, Febraury 13th when travel to UPEI.
