Moncton takes 4-3 win over Tigers in last period

(Halifax, NS) On  Sunday, November 22, the UdeM Aigles Bleues and the Dalhousie Tigers hit the ice at the Halifax Forum. The Aigles Bleues came away with a 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Four minutes into the first period, the Dalhousie Tigers scored the first goal of the game from the power play. Laura Brooks (Acton, ON) got the puck to Lisa MacLean (Inverness, NS), who placed the puck in the top left corner of the net for the goal.

The Aigles Bleues tied up the score at 10:54. Amélie Dion (St-Jean-Baptiste, QC) and Katherine Dubuc (Victoriaville, QC) assisted Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, OH) on her power play goal. Moncton worked the puck through Dalhousie's defence to make the shot across the left side.

With just over two minutes left in the period, Dalhousie took back their lead. Dalhousie built the play up the ice and MacLean got the puck to Courtney Sheedy (Orangeville, ON) for the goal.

UdeM tied the game up once more before the period could end. Thirty second were left to play in the first period when Villeneuve played the puck to Marie-Pier Carriveau (Magog, QC) who finished the long-range shot from the neutral zone for the Aigles Bleues' second goal of the game.

The game was tied 2-2 leading into the second period.

The Aigles Bleues took the lead for the first time in the game eight minutes into the second period. Véronic Thibeault (Val d'Amour, NB) took the puck down the left side of the rink and found Kaitlyn Gallaway (Stratford, PE), open on the far side of the net for the goal.

The game was tied up for a third time when Dalhousie's Tara Morning (Aurora, ON) took a long-range shot which finished as a goal for the Tigers. Joleen MacInnis (Whycocomaugh, NS) and Sarah Robichaud (Weymouth, NS) were on the assist for Morning's goal.

The second period finished up as a 3-3 tie for Dalhousie and UdeM.

Both teams had several chances in the third period, Dalhousie had eleven shots compared to Moncton's nine. Mati Barrett had an outstanding performance with 25 saves throughout the course of the game. However, thirteen minutes into the third, and last, period, Amélie Dion finished the power play opportunity with a goal, assisted by Corriveau and Villeneuve. The score at the end of the period was 4-3 for Moncton over Dalhousie

Dalhousie had most shots throughout the game with 27 and Moncton followed close behind with 25. The final score of the game was a 4-3 win for the Aigles Bleues over the Tigers. Subway player of the game was Katryne Villeneuve. Dalhousie's (4-5-0) next game will be on Saturday, November 28th against UPEI (2-7-1). Moncton (6-5-0) will play again on Friday, November 27th against St. Thomas (6-3-1).
