Robichaud gets hat trick in 5-3 win for Dal vs MtA

On Saturday, October 24th, the Dalhousie Tigers played the Mount Allison Mounties in regular season action and came away with a 5-3 win for the Tigers with 156 supporters in attendance.

Dalhousie's Laura Brooks (Acton, ON) was given a 2 minute penalty for boarding which gave Mount Allison a power play opportunity. Five minutes into the first period, the Mounties scored the first goal of the game from a power play that led to a goal for Kara Anthony (Toronto, ON). As the first period came to a close, Mount Allison's Andrea Dina (Miramichi, NB) was given a two minute penalty for roughing. The first period came to an end with the Mounties in a 1-0 lead over the Tigers.

Four minutes into the second period, Dalhousie's Sarah Robichaud (Weymouth, NS) tied up the score with Dalhousie's first goal. Just minutes later, Corinne Desjardins (Ottawa, ON) scored another goal for the Tigers which brought them 1 goal ahead of the Mounties at a score of 2-1 for the Tigers.

Continuing in the second period, the Mountie's Rosie Heffernan (Oakville, ON) tied the score with another goal at 11:08 bringing the score to 2-2. Courtney Sheedy (Orangeville, ON) took advantage of Dalhousie winning the faceoff and scored a third goal for the Tigers at 11:10 to regain their lead.

The scoring continued in the second period when Mount Allison tied up the score once more with a goal by Heather Richards (St. Andrews, NB) at the 13 minute mark. Robichaud scored her second goal of the game with only minutes remaining in the second period which brought the Tigers back into the lead. The second period finished at a score of 4-3 for the Tigers.

Robichaud scored another early goal 3 minutes into the third period which secured the Tigers lead and ensured that Dalhousie would win the game. The final score of the game was 5-3 for the Tigers over the Mounties.

Dalhousie's (1-3-0) next game will be their home opener on Wednesday, October 28th at the Halifax Forum at 7pm against the Saint Mary's Huskies (2-2-0). Mount Allison's (1-3-0) next game will be against Moncton (2-1-0) at 7pm on the 28th of October.
