Tigers take 4-1 victory over Mounties

The Dalhousie Tigers and Mount Allison Mounties faced off Wednesday, February 11th in front of 268 fans in Sackville, NB. The Tigers took the match 4-1, resulting in the Mounties not receiving a playoff berth. The Mounties heavily outshot the Tigers 37-20, but Jessica Severeyns had an outstanding performance in net, making 36 saves to bring the Tigers the victory.

Tigers forward, Elizabeth MacArthur led the game in scoring with two goals from just four shots, while Mounties defender, Megan Cameron, led the game in shooting, firing six shots at Severeyns.

The first period ended scoreless with a mere five shots from the Tigers and thirteen from the Mounties. In the second, both Megan Ross and MacArthur were able to find the back of the net, during full strength play, to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead entering the third period.  The Tigers scored a third goal by defender Morgen Kidney at the 4:18 mark in the final period which seemed to seal the Mounties fate. The Mounties didn't quit however, as they scored a goal of their own during full strength play by Samantha Bujold at the 18:38 mark. The Tigers soon after notched the final goal of the game, scored once again by MacArthur.

The Tigers play in their first quarter final AUS playoff game at St. Thomas University against the Tommies Tuesday, February 17 at 7 pm. This was the Mounties last game of the season.
