Tigers add Maillet for 2021-22 season

Dalhousie Tigers interim women’s basketball head coach Anton Berry is pleased to announce the commitment of Maddie Maillet for the 2021-22 season.

A 5’11 forward, Maillet plays for the Bernice MacNaughton High School basketball team. She is currently averaging 20 points per game and 15 rebounds. She earned an all-star nod at the 2020 edition of the Moncton Hoop Classic tournament.

Hailing from Moncton, New Brunswick, she has been a member of Team New Brunswick for four years, representing the province at two Canada Basketball national championship tournaments.

“I am thrilled to play at the next level at Dal,” says Maillet. “I love the university’s commitment to excellence in academics and athletics as well as community involvement. I feel privileged to play under Coach Berry’s leadership, and I can’t wait to be a Tiger!”

A four-year member of the honour role at Bernice MacNaughton High School, Maillet intends to study medical sciences or kinesiology at Dalhousie.

“Maddie's defence and toughness will be a welcome addition to our basketball program” says Berry. “She has the ability to defend multiple positions and has a high basketball IQ. She has a tremendous work ethic and is committed to maximizing her potential on the court and in the classroom.”

Maillet comes to Dalhousie on the heels of her older brother Sam who is currently in his second year on the men’s basketball team.

The 2020-21 women’s basketball season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
