Sydney, NS – The CAPERS took advantage of a huge crowd at the Sullivan Fieldhouse for 87-78 victory of the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday night. The Tigers were able to battle back and forth for 3 quarters with the CAPERS led by Robertha Charles with 14 points and 3 rebounds. The CAPERS turned it on in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Tigers 32-19 in the final frame. The CAPERS were led in scoring by Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) with 33 points. The Tigers also received double-digit scoring from Sophie Gaube, Karina May and Lia Kentzler. For the CAPERS, current AUS scoring and rebounding leader Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) had 24 points and 9 rebounds. Mackenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) drained some clutch 3-pointers and ended up with 11 points in the victory. 

Turning point – The CAPERS broke open a close game early in the 3rd quarter. The CAPERS used a pressure defence to force a number of turnovers that led to a number of quick buckets by Calliste. 

Individual Leaders

  • Calliste led all scorers with 33 points
  • Karina May of the Tigers had a game-high 11 rebounds
  • Ryan led all players with 5 assists
  • CBU's Calliste had four 3-pointers

The Subway Player of the Game was Monique Calliste

The CAPERS improve their record to 11-2 on the season.

The Tigers fall to 6-7 on the season. 

Both teams return to action on Sunday at 1 pm in the back end of the weekend doubleheader.
