Tigers Track Classic

The day got off to an early start for the jumpers, the women started the day with high jump. Although the Tigers were missing all-star jumper, Rebecca Haworth, Dalhousie's Macayla Cullen stepped up to the plate, taking first place in the event. She also won first place in women's long jump. Dalhousie jumper, Chas Smith, walked away with first place in men's (18-19) high jump and StFX's, Jake McKenna took first in men's (20-34) high jump. The Tigers continued their winning streak in the jumping events with AUS record holder, Sarah Taplin, taking first place in triple jump.

Despite the dryness in the air, the runners managed to pull through, running great times and concurring personal bests. In the sprints, Tiger, Shannay Beals, took first place in the women's 60m dash and X-Man, Demetrious Ferguson, took first for the men. StFX continued their sprinting victory streak with, Eilish Macquarrie placing first in the women's 300m dash while Dalhousie's Scott Kyle (18-19) and Norman Isaac (20-34) took first in their respected age groups. Moving into the women's runs, Dalhousie's Michelle Reddy placed first in women's 600m run with StFX's Elizabeth MacDonald taking first in the 1000m run. Her teammate, Elizabeth O'Connell placed first in the 1500m run and the school took home first in the 4X200m relay and in women's hurdles. Dalhousie went home with a first in 4X400m relay for the women. On the men's side StFX dominated the running events with a gold won by, Scott Donald (1000m), Bryden Tate (1500m) and Alex Neuffer (3000m). Dalhousie's Will Russell won first in his respected division of the men's 1500m and SMU runner, John Kuto, won his respected division of the men's 3000m.


All in all, the event was very successful and teammates expressed sincere sportsmanship to the other teams, giving the event a great atmosphere for everyone. The teams will be back in action at the University of Moncton, Saturday, February 22.
