Tigers add Smith for 2025-26
Dalhousie Tigers track and field head coach Rich Lehman is pleased to announce the commitment of Maryn Smith for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Oxford, Nova Scotia, Smith has been a member of the Truro Lions Track Club for the past three years. Specializing in hurdles and sprints, she holds the Athletics Nova Scotia provincial records in the U18 60m hurdles, 80m hurdles, and 100m hurdles. Her personal bests are 9.26 seconds in the 60m hurdles, 14.79 seconds in the 100m hurdles, and 1:06.17 in the 400m hurdles.
Smith has also been a member of the Oxford Regional Education Centre track and field team for the past three years. She won the Oxford Regional Education Centre Intermediate Track and Field MVP award in 2022 and 2023. Smith holds the School Sport Nova Scotia provincial record for the intermediate girls 80m hurdles. She won gold in the 80m hurdles in the 2023 School Sport Nova Scotia and in 2022, she won silver in both the 80m hurdles and 400m. Smith has been a member of the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Legion Track and Field team for the past three years.
“I am looking forward to the exciting academic opportunities that Dalhousie has to offer and the chance to continue enjoying track and field as a part of a great team,” says Smith. “The strength of the science department and the quality of the track and field program drew me to Dal!”
An honours student and Lieutenant Governor Award recipient, Smith will be studying science at Dalhousie University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maryn to the Dalhousie track and field team,” says Speed/Power Lead Tim Brennan. “Maryn is Nova Scotia’s top U20 sprint hurdler. She will make an impact immediately in our women’s sprints & hurdles groups and within the conference.”
The women’s track and field team defend their AUS titles with their 35th consecutive win last month.
