Tigers start strong on day 1 of U SPORTS Championships
Chelsea MacIsaac was the top Tiger finishing fourth in the weight throw.
The first day of the 2025 Biosteel U SPORTS Track and Field Championships was quiet for the Tigers with only four athletes competing.
The day started strong with Chelsea MacIsaac in the weight throw. MacIsaac broke her own Dalhousie record with a throw of 17.79m. The throw captured a fourth place finish in Windsor.
Abbi Gaudry competed in the pentathlon on day one, finishing seventh overall with a score of 3420. She crossed the line in a time of 8.83 seconds in the 60mH and cleared 1.60m in the high jump. She then had a season best throw of 10.26m in the shot put. She moved up one spot after the long jump with a jump of 5.40m heading into the 800m. Gaudry wrapped up her day with a time of 2:44.65 in the 800m.
Dan Lord and Zach James competed in the 600m preliminary race to wrap up the day. Lord crossed the line in a time of 1:20.62, just missing out on the finals on Saturday. James crossed the line in a time of 1:19.58, qualifying for the finals.
Day two of the meet starts for the Tigers with Caleb Hominick in the weight throw at 2:30pm ET.
