It was a medal-winning and record-setting day on Friday at the 2023 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Saskatchewan. The evening's events for the Tigers started off with Carley Birrell running a tough 1000m race and finishing in 11th.

Next up on the track was the men's 1000m race featuring Aidan Goslett. After setting the pace early, Goslett slipped back to fourth, but in the final lap he kicked with the passing Queens athlete and crossed the finish line with a comfortable hold on second place. This is the first medal for the Tigers in the 1000m since Ueli Albert medalled in 2007.

The Tigers had a team in both the men's and women's relays to end the night on the track. The women's team of Birrell, Sofia Day, Catherine Kennedy and Chloe Richardson finished in a close fifth place with a time of 8:56.30 which set a new Dalhousie record. Not to be outdone, the men's relay team of Goslett, Hudson Grimshaw-Surette, Daniel Rosen and Zach James, also finished in fifth with a time of 7:36.94.

In the field events, Abbi Gaudry finished 11th in the long jump with a jump of 5.27m. First-year jumper Diego Marshall cleared 1.94m in the high jump for an 11th place finish.

The third and final day of competition for the Tigers gets underway at 4:45pm AT with the men's triple jump featuring Tobi Oshikoya.
