Coolen wins U SPORTS gold in 60m dash
Matthew Coolen won gold in the 60m dash final on Thursday evening, on day one of the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Windsor.
Third-year sprinter Matthew Coolen ran an impressive 6.84 seconds to win U SPORTS gold in the 60m dash. The 10th seed in the race, he knocked .08 seconds of his personal best time ahead of the championships.
First-year pentathlete Lorena Heubach placed fifth in her first national championship and Audley Cummings currently sits in fifth place with three more events to go in the heptathlon.
With Coolen's win, the Tigers are currently leading the men's team results after the first day of competition.
