Scofield leads Tigers in day 1 of U SPORTS Championships
Emilie Schofield was the top Tiger with an eighth place finish in the 400m IM.
The Tigers got off to a solid start on day one of the 2025 U SPORTS Swimming Championships hosted by the University of Toronto.
In the morning's prelims Emma Carrier Clarke touched the wall in a time of 2:04.18 in the 200m free qualifying for the C final. In the evening finals she touched the wall 20th overall.
In the men's 200m free prelim race Logan Sparkes touched in 1:51.37 and Morgan Sparkes touched in a time of 1:52.56. They finished 31st and 42nd respectively.
In the 100m breaststroke Emilie Schofield touched in a time of 1:13.78 followed quickly behind by Kate Tuck with a time of 1:13.94. They finished in 29th and 30th overall.
In the men's race Jake Gysel touched the wall in a time of 1:02.52 qualifying for the C final. In the evening race he touched the wall in 23rd place overall.
In the women's 100m fly, Mia Stein-Blumberg touched the wall in a time of 1:03.50. She finished 27th overall.
In the men's 50m back Liam Ferguson swam a time of 25.69 followed by Quinn Nolan with a time of 25.79. Both qualified for the C final where they finished 22nd and 23rd overall. Jake touched in a time of 28.87 in the preliminary race for 40th overall.
In the women's 400m IM, Emilie Schofield touched in eighth with a time of 4:56.95 in the preliminary race, qualifying for the A final. In the final she also touched the wall in eighth place with a time of 4:55.92. Kate Tuck qualified for the B final and finished 14th overall with a finals time of 4:58.37. Alexia Morgans qualified for the C final where she touched in a time of 5:01.68.
In the men's 400m IM, Morgan Sparkes touched with a time of 4:29.88 to qualify the C final. In the final he touched the wall in a time of 4:32.07 for 24th place. Yannick Morgans recorded a time of 4:43.88 in the prelims for 35th place.
To wrap up the evening session the Tigers had teams in both 400 free relays. The women's team of Elaine Gentleman, Tuck, Schofield, and Carrier Clarke touched the wall in a time of 3:51.89 for 11th place.
The men's team of Logan Sparkes, Nolan, Gysel, and Morgan Sparkes touched the wall in a time of 3:26.93 for 11th overall.
The Tigers return to the pool on Friday morning at 9:30am ET.
