Tigers men lead after day 1 of AUS Swim
Tigers women sit second in the standings.
The Dalhousie Tigers men's swimming team sits atop the team standings after day one of the Bell AUS Swimming Championship. The women sit second.
In the first event of the evening finals session, Tiger Emma Carrier Clarke won the 200m freestyle. Fellow Tiger Mia Stein-Blumberg touched second followed by Acadia's Casidy Karrell.
In the men's event it was Acadia's David Harvie touching in first followed by Tigers Logan Sparkes and Hasan Hosny.
Axewomen Ella Collins and Chloe Popp touched 1-2 in the women's 100m breaststroke followed by Dalhousie's Kate Tuck. Collins was only a couple hundredths of a second off the AUS record in the event.
In the men's event, UNB's Blake Kingston won the event and lowered his AUS record to a new time of 1:00.38. Tigers Connor Maloney and Jake Gysel claimed second and third.
Emma Sinclair of the REDS won the women's 100m butterfly with Dalhousie's Stein-Blumberg and Amari DeLima-Barril touching second and third. Sinclair and Stein-Blumberg touched in under the U SPROTS standard.
Memorial's Chris Weeks won his first medal of the weekend in the men's 100m butterfly, touching in just shy of the AUS record. Acadia's Nate Thompson and UNB's Maxime Kenny touched second and third respectively.
Leah Smal of UNB won the women's 50m backstroke. Axewomen Sophie Rooney and Grace Earle finished second and third.
It was a Dal sweep of the men's 50m backstroke. Liam Ferguson touched first, followed by Quinn Nolan and Cole Mitchell. Ferguson touched in under the U SPORTS standard.
Tigers Emilie Schofield and Alexia Morgans went 1-2 in the women's 400m IM. Acadia's Eadaoin McGrath touched third.
Dalhousie's Morgan Sparkes and Timoth McCowan claimed the gold and silver medal in the men's 400m IM with Acadia's Alex Josen-Humble getting bronze.
The Dalhousie relay team of Elaine Gentleman, Tuck, Schofield and Carrier Clarke won the women's 400m freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.75, under the U SPORTS standard. Acadia finished second and UNB in third.
On the men's side the Acadia team touched in first place. Tigers Sparkes, Noah Thomas, Mitchell and Hosny finished second followed by Memorial in third.
