Crowell leads Tigers in day two of swim championship

The Dalhousie Tigers swim team continues to excel on day two of the U SPORTS Swimming Championship.

In the women's 50m free, Veronica Hollick swam to a time of 27.4 seconds to finish in 41st. Noah Mascoll-Gomes touched the wall in 22.89 seconds in the men's race to qualify for the C Final.

Emilie Schofield qualified for the C Final in the women's 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:38.87.

In the women's 400m freestyle, Reagan Crowell finished in seventh place in the preliminary place to qualify for the A final. Mascoll-Gomes touched the wall in 11th place in the men's race followed by Logan Sparkes in 15th place. Both Tigers qualified for the B final.

Liam Ferguson swam a time of 56.31 in the men's 100m backstroke to qualify for the C Final. Fellow Tiger Frederick Chandler-Baas finished in 30th place.

Kate Tuck and Schofield both qualified for the C final in the women's 200m IM with a 12th place and 15th place finish respectively.

In the women's 50m butterfly, Hollick just missed out on the A final, touching in with a time of 27.88 for ninth place in the preliminary races.

In the evening session, Mascoll-Gomes touched the wall in 22nd place overall in the men's 50m freestyle.

In the women's 200m breaststroke, Schofield touched the wall in a time of 2:47.75 to finish 23rd overall.

Crowell finished eighth overall in the women's 400m while Mascoll-Gomes and Sparkes finished in 13th and 15th respectively on the men's side.

Ferguson touched the wall in a time of 59.77 to finish in 21st in the men's 100m backstroke.

In the women's 200m IM final, Tuck and Schofield finished in 13th and 15th respectively. Hollick wrapped up her individual swims on day two with a 16th place finish in the women's 50m butterfly.

The final races of the night were the 4x200m relays. The women's team of Tuck, Crowell, Schofield and Hollick touched the wall in a time of 8:53.93 to finish in ninth place. On the men's side, the team of Noah Thomas, Mascoll-Gomes, Sparkes and Cole Mitchell also finished in ninth place with a time of 7:47.15.

Day three gets underway at 9:30am on Saturday followed by the finals at 5:30pm.
