The Dalhousie Tigers continued their winning ways, swimming to victory in eight of the 12 events on day two of the 2019 Subway AUS Swimming Championships. UNB won two events and Acadia and Memorial each had one.
Dalhousie's Isabel Sarty was the first swimmer to make it atop the podium for the second day in a row, winning the 200m freestyle event. Teammates Reagan Crowell and Imani Theodore placed second and third, respectively to complete the night's first podium sweep. Sarty and Crowell posted U SPORTS-qualifying times in the race.
Noah Mascoll-Gomes won Mount Allison's first gold medal of the meet, swimming to victory in the 200m freestyle in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 1:50.42. Dalhousie's Tyler Immel-Herron and Geraint Berger placed second and third, respectively.
UNB's Leah Smal won her second gold medal of the championships, placing first in the 50m backstroke in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 28.56. Dalhousie's Claire Yurkovich and Acadia's Jessica Pelletier placed second and third, respectively.
Christian Payne (Dalhousie) also won his second gold medal of the championships, winning the 50m backstroke in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 25.25. Mount Allison's Noah Mascoll-Gomes was second, followed by Acadia's Benjamin Henger in third.
Dalhousie's Olivia Feschuk won her second breaststroke event of the championships, this time the 50m race. Fellow Tiger Victoria MacDonald was second, followed by Hannah Doiron of Acadia.
UNB's Noah Horwood was the first to the wall in the 100m breaststroke. Dalhousie's Sam Cusimano and Calum Kershaw were close behind touching in at second and third respectively.
The Tigers earned their second podium sweep of the night in the women's 400m IM. Leading the way was Reagan Crowell, followed by Alexis Bragman and Annie Douglas.
Alec Karlsen earned Dalhousie's fifth gold medal of the evening, winning the 400m IM. Teammate Mckenzie Holden was close behind in second, followed by Acadia's Elyott Chang in third.
Lise Cinq-Mars posted a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 27.81 to win the 50m butterfly. Acadia's Jessica Vessey was second, followed by Allison Somers from Memorial in third.
Acadia's Brett Liem won the final individual race of the night with a first-place finish in the 50m butterfly in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 24.95. Dalhousie swimmers rounded out the top three with Christian Payne placing second, followed by Geraint Berger in third.
The Tigers team of Reagan Crowell, Isabel Sarty, Claire Yurkovich and Lise Cinq-Mars won the women's 800m freestyle relay in a U SPORTS-qualifying time of 8:20.83. Acadia was second, followed by UNB.
Not to be outdone, the Dalhousie men's team of Tyler Immel-Herron, Geraint Berger, Alec Karlsen and Quinn West also won the 800m freestyle relay. Memorial finished in second, followed by Acadia in third.
