Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Matthew McCarvell for the 2024-25 season.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, McCarvell was a member of the Pakmen Volleyball Club 16U team that won the 2022 Ontario Volleyball Association provincial championship and the Volleyball Canada national title. McCarvell was named an all-star at the national tournament for his play. The 6’5 outside hitter also plays for Upper Canada College and has made three Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA) appearances.
McCarvell has also been named to several Team Ontario provincial and elite teams over the last three seasons.
“I am super excited to further my skills and represent Dalhousie,” says McCarvell. “I chose Dal because of the amazing facilities, awesome community, and the east coast energy.”
McCarvell will be studying commerce at Dalhousie.
“Matthew has demonstrated that he can be effective at multiple positions, so his versatility will immediately provide our team with added depth,” says Ota. “I see him steadily developing into a solid player at the RSEQ level.”
The Tigers finished fifth in the RSEQ in the 2023-24 season with a 2-14 record.
