Dal falls to Sherbrooke

The de Sherbrooke Vert et Or defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) Saturday afternoon at Dalplex.

Lucas Condon-Oldreive (Porters Lake, NS) gave Dal an early 4-3 lead with a kill. 

Guillaume Rivest would tie the game 4-4 with the kill for Sherbrooke.

Michael Donovan (London, ON) gave Dal the lead again with a block. Dal led 6-5 at this point.

Yoan David tied the game 6-6 for Sherbrooke with a powerhouse spike. 

Sherbrooke began to pull away in the set, leading 16-12 with another kill from David. David scored five kills in the first set. Josh DeYoung (Cole Harbour, NS) pulled Dal within four points with a kill.

However, it would not be enough for the Tigers to come back in the set as Julien Vanier got another kill and an ace. Vanier had the set-winning kill to close the set 25-20. 

Donovan got the first point of the set with a big swing. 

Hugo Ouellet got Sherbrooke on the board with a kill as Sherbrooke trailed 2-1.

Donovan spiked another big kill, giving Dal a 4-2 lead.

Ouellet made it 12-9 with a kill too hot to handle for Dal.

Tyler Wiseman (Clarenville, NL) then came through with a crucial block for Dal, making it a 15-12 game with Dal trailing by three.

Later in the set, David spiked the ball out of bounds, tying the set 17-17.

David would follow this up with another spike; this time, it was a spike that was both accurate and powerful, giving Sherbrooke an 18-17 lead.

DeYoung got a vital block for Dal, tying the game 18-18.

Sherbrooke would regain the lead in the set and win 25-20 with another kill from Ouellet. Ouellet had eight kills through the first two sets.

Sherbrooke started the third set with a 4-0 lead, with big kills from David and Ouellet.

Dal began to come back with a massive swing from DeYoung to make it a 5-3 game.

Dal would continue to trail in the set as Donovan brought Dal within three points with a kill.

Jonathan Portelance's kill made it 16-10, with Sherbrooke still leading.

Wiseman scored the match-winning kill, winning the third set 25-20.

Dal heads to UNB next week to play the Reds.
