Donovan paces Tigers in loss to Sherbrooke

The Sherbrooke Vert et Or men's volleyball team defeated Dalhousie 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) in the second match of the weekend on Saturday afternoon to advance to the RSEQ Championship final series.

Sherbrooke took the first set but not without a fight from the Tigers. Dalhousie established a solid lead at the start of the set but were unable to maintain this energy for the remainder of the first. Sherbrooke built on their first set win, dominating the second with Yoan David attacking at the net and topping the Tigers 25-16.

The third set saw back-and-forth action on both sides of the net. The Tigers established a strong lead early on, thanks to a consistent service game and attacking at the net. When Yoan David took serve, Sherbrooke started to come back and eventually evened up the score at 9-9.

The Tigers called a timeout to regain some of their momentum. After this break, the Tigers started attacking on Sherbrooke's serves which allowed them to regain their lead. Ted Graveson sparked the Tigers with a big kill to go up 12-11.

The teams continued to trade points with Sherbrooke eventually edging the Tigers 25-21 in the third and final set.

The loss ends the 2022-23 season for the Tigers while Sherbrooke will advance to the RSEQ championship series next weekend.

Michael Donovan led the way for the Tigers with eight kills while Justin Cross and josh DeYoung each chipped in six apiece.
