Tigers add Tran for 2022-23

Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Owen Tran for the 2022-23 season.

Hailing from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Tran has been selected to represent New Brunswick at the 2022 Canada Games in Niagara, Ontario this summer.

A libero, he plays his club volleyball with the Spartans Volleyball Club and is a member of the U18 team that won the provincial title this past winter. Tran and his Spartans teammates represented their province at Volleyball Canada’s national championship in Alberta earlier this month.

“I am very excited to be joining the Tigers this fall,” says Tran. “It has been my dream to compete as a university athlete and I am looking forward to representing the Tigers on and off the court.”

Tran will be studying science at Dalhousie.

“Owen is an excellent defender who reads the game well,” says Ota. “I anticipate that he will earn play time as a defensive libero this season and I look forward to assisting with his continued development in our program.”

The men’s volleyball team kicks of the regular season at home on Friday, October 23.
